Tim Elwell serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Qualidigm, responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the company while spearheading the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies to secure the organization’s sustainability and business development potential. He works directly with Qualidigm’s Board of Directors and staff to ensure the ongoing fulfillment of the company’s mission of improving the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of health care through transformational change.
Prior to Qualidigm, Tim served as the Vice President for Misys Open Source Solutions, LLC, a division of the London-based software company Misys plc. In this role, Tim led the company’s open source strategy and development efforts in support of healthcare products and service offerings. Before Misys, he worked for the IBM Corporation for 11 years, where he began his IBM career at the renowned T.J.Watson Research Center. At IBM, he held international positions in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and sales management. Prior to IBM, Tim was the Deputy Director for Columbia University’s Center for Advanced Technology that promoted technology transfer activities for the Departments of Medical Informatics and Computer Sciences. Previous operations roles included Vice President of Technical Operations and Operations Director for Raytel Medical and Medtronic, Inc., respectively. Tim started his career at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a Certified Cardiovascular Technologist.
In addition to serving as the President of the Qualidigm board, Tim is presently on the boards of eHealthConnecticut (Connecticut’s Regional Extension Center), the American Health Quality Association (AHQA), the Connecticut Partnership for Patient Safety, and the Connecticut Choosing Wisely Collaborative. He serves as an advisor and mentor to students at UCONN and Quinnipiac. Most recently, he was made an Incorporator at Connecticut Community Care, Inc.
Tim’s wife, Joy Elwell, DNP, FNP-BC, FAANP is on the Nursing Faculty at UCONN. Tim and Joy live in Glastonbury. They have three adult children.
Tim graduated from the City University of New York at Baruch College with an MBA in General Management and an undergraduate degree from Siena College in Biology. He began a PhD in 2011 and earned his degree in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2016. His chosen dissertation topic examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and the creation of trust in accountable care organization (ACO) leaders’ teams.
