Middletown, CT, October 13, 2003 – Rumored to have its offices over an ancient Indian burial ground, and by eerie coincidence, Qualidigm®, Connecticut’s health care quality improvement organization celebrates its 20th anniversary on October 31, 2003.
In recognition of 20 years that Qualidigm has worked for the community, Qualidigm hosted a Halloween masquerade costume party for its employees. “It’s a surprisingly good time, because our 20th anniversary falls on Halloween!” says Marcia Petrillo, CEO/President, Qualidigm.
From keeping Buffalo figurines and statues on their desks as offerings to Indian spirits that may linger in the halls, Qualidigm is known for their caring nature. For example, each week, employees donate one dollar to Qualidigm’s MAD fund a.k.a “Make a Donation” to wear jeans on Friday. Funds are collected and donated to a selected charity for that week. Since 1994, Qualidigm has donated over $9,000 to local charities through its MAD fund. Qualidigm also offers a unique “alternate work schedule” to help employees balance their work and personal lives.
About 35 percent of Qualidigm's full-time employees take advantage of the benefits, which helps keep staff motivated to continue growing the business. The plan offers a four-day workweek, in which employees get Monday or Friday off each week by working four 10-hour days, or A 5/4-9 compressed plan, in which employees get Monday or Friday off every other week by working eight nine-hour days and one eight-hour day in a two-week period.
"We're a nonprofit organization and can't offer the monetary rewards that many for-profit companies can, so we look for innovative and creative ways to make our employees appreciate working here," Petrillo said. "We also want customers to know we are ahead of the curve, vs. in the middle of the pack."
Qualidigm currently staffs over 80 professionals with diverse skill sets including physicians, registered nurses, health educators, analysts, statisticians, communication specialists and various other experts. Aside from Medicare work, Qualidigm hold contracts with Medicaid programs in Connecticut and Rhode Island and other research projects across a broad range of clinical topics.
Qualidigm® is a nationally recognized industry leader in measuring and improving the quality of health care.
