Quality Improvement Consultant - Nursing Home and Hospital Settings

Looking for a new challenge?  Here is your opportunity to impact healthcare quality in multiple settings by applying your critical thinking skills to bring creative solutions to issues.  In this position, you will be the primary liaison between participating nursing homes, hospitals with whom they share patients, the state professional nursing home associations, the hospital association, and Qualidigm.  The primary purpose of the position is to support the CMS initiative of quality improvement education to Connecticut nursing homes and hospitals.  This position functions as an educator and quality improvement advisor, using a consultative approach to work collaboratively to achieve CMS goals.  You will develop relationships with nursing home and hospital leadership and staff.  Use your skills to identify opportunities and methods for improving clinical performance through process improvements, workflow redesign and care management, particularly regarding pressure ulcers and the use of physical restraints. Apply your critical thinking skills to bring creative solutions to issues. 

You will need a current Connecticut RN license, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Masters preferred), and five years in a clinical setting – both hospital and Long Term Care.  Strong background in health care quality improvement processes.  Prior experience must include strong knowledge of nursing home industry, and experience as a trainer, including responsibility for developing educational programs for adult learners.  Strong communication skills, using a clear and articulate style, with particular expertise in creating effective and persuasive messages.  Duties involve frequent in-state travel to visit customer facilities.

Director, Case Review

Immediate opening for someone who will lead our utilization review team. You will be responsible for directing and monitoring all activities related to case/utilization review, ensuring compliance and providing management and direction to review operations. You will monitor outcomes and provide guidance to assigned staff using quality improvement and inter-rater reliability methods and tools, while maintaining timeliness and accuracy of the review and other processes, including the medical records area. In addition, you will provide consultative advice to the senior leadership team on existing and new contracts, and function as a liaison between providers and CMS/DSS/DHS and other Case Review Department customers and suppliers.  You will be responsible for the management of operating budgets for the department.

You will need a current Connecticut RN license, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Masters preferred), at least one year of medical/surgical clinical experience and three years of utilization and/or care management supervisory experience.  In addition, experience dealing with state and federal agencies strongly preferred.
